Psychos in the Salsa club

There are psychos all over the place and sometimes they manage to creep their ways into a salsa club. Unfortunately I bumped heads with a few. It wasn’t pleasant but I’ll share my experience and perhaps it may help some.

A fellow salseros girlfriend has an aunt whose boyfriend happens to be nuts. Now, I heard stories about him but I didn’t really pay much attention. Actually my friend is a prankster and sometimes it’s hard to believe his stories.

He told me this guy, I’ll call him Harry is very violent and always looking for a fight. He had a confrontation with my friend’s brother because he thought he was going for his girlfriend.

I asked him did he try to go for Harry’s girl and he said yeah but that’s not the point.    The guy didn’t know, he was just assuming, it’s my friend’s logic. Sometimes you have to hold your mate tight in the salsa world.

He also told me Harry is in a gang, a drug dealer and carries a knife with him. Never did I think he and I would clash in the future. He told me to stay away from him and don’t talk to his girl’s aunt. There would be definite problems if Harry finds out.

Whatever, I just went on. Sometimes, I would see Harry by the group but only once in a while because the girl’s aunt was with us. If it wasn’t for her aunt we would have nothing to do with him.

I never really observed him or watched the way he interacted with others. I never paid attention and the few occasions he sat on the same table with us, I said hello and no problem.

I thought my friend was playing a prank with me and perhaps this guys is opposite of everything he and his brother told me about Harry. Every once and awhile they would remind me. Yeah, right, I thought.

Harry and this lady were seeing each other for over 5 years and it was an off and on again relationship. How do I say this, it was COMPLICATED.

I was to meet with my friend and his girl at a club. I got there a little late and as I looked for their table, I saw Harry sitting by himself.  I said, “What’s up?”  He just said hello back and when I asked where’s my friend he told me at the other side of the club.

As I left, from the corner of my eye I saw Harry get up and ask a girl to dance. I saw my friend; he was sitting with his girlfriend and her aunt.

I thought for a moment, I guess her aunt and Harry broke up again. Her aunt was always nice to me. We all shared some laughs and were looking forward to a good evening. My friend got up with his girl to dance.

I was left alone with her aunt and we shared a conversation and some laughter. I didn’t think much of Harry; after all he was alone and asked another girl to dance just a few minutes ago. There I am, alone with the aunt in a packed house full of people.

Three minutes passed by since my friend went to dance and out of nowhere Harry leaped out of the crowded dance floor like a lion.  He screamed a horrible sound which made absolutely no sense, it wasn’t a word, it was more like some animalistic cry.

This was my situation. However, it got a little longer than expected. Sometimes, I just get caught up in the writing.

I’ll make this story in three parts, so just continue going forward for the rest of it.

Now, if you were in my situation, how would you handle it? Let us know or share if something like this happened to you.
