Iguana lounge

Iguana Lounge located on 54 streets in Manhattan is the place to be if you’re looking to do your salsa thing. Next to Broadway, it makes a great place for a date or group.

It has three dance rooms. The second floor has two rooms at the front and back, which plays a mixture of Latin songs and a strong emphasis on salsa. It’s perfect for salseros who want to practice their craft.
It also has a chic restaurant and bar on the first floor which will be a delight to a date or an outing with friends or family. The lower level has a mixture of club and hip hop.

The salsa is good upstairs and has a handful of students who practice from 9 to 10. Last time I went there were about 35 students, so it is an excellent opportunity to make new friends and meet someone.

You could tell it’s a school by the way they socialize; they obviously know each other and are having a good time. I strongly recommend anyone to take some lesson at the iguana lounge, you’ll have a blast and having a party next to Broadway is always a blast.

Also, there is rarely a long line at front. They keep the crowd moving forward, which, I like. It’s especially great in the cold winter nights. You know the feeling of having to wait out for over 30 minutes to get in a New York club.

It’s horrible, especially if you’re trying to be cool and don’t bring a jacket because you want to look cool. Not that I ever did it. It amazes me sometimes when, it’s freezing out and a girl comes with just her dress or top and skirt.

My goodness, we’re freezing outside and this girl is just chatting a storm with her friends like nothing. I don’t even want to talk sometimes, I’m just thinking of getting into a place. Some people have a better tolerance too cold than others.

I notice many Manhattanites can deal with the cold better than others, good for them.

I met several lovely ladies at iguanas and most of the times have a ball. Actually, last time I went there in December, with some friends, we rocking the whole night.

Everyone has their own approach on how to deal with a salsa club. I’m on attack mode as soon as I enter the door. I’ll take hold of the first women who grabs my attention and take her out to dance. Some guys like to hold back but my friends and I go straight to it.

I’ll try to get there early, before 10:30 on Saturday nights. It gives me the opportunity to meet someone or at least let them get to know me so we can touch base throughout the night. I’ll give her space and come around every 30 minutes for a dance.

If I’m getting positive feedback, I’ll return more frequently, it depends. Also, this is for guys, I noticed so very lovely ladies tend to leave early. Sometimes they leave before 11. I’m not sure why and at times we just stare as they escape through the front door.

“They just got away,” gasps my friend. We get downcast for a moment and something in our belly hurts. We quickly recover and take care of business.

Salseros, go to iguana lounge, I’m sure you’ll have a blast.
